SWIM DRILL QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
How often should I practice these drills?
Two or three times a week is plenty. Do 10 to 15 minutes of drills right after your warm-up, while you are still fresh, then swim your main set.
Can I fix my freestyle breathing with drills alone?
Drills help a lot, but it is hard to see your own stroke. If you keep getting stuck, one lesson with video feedback shows you exactly what to change.
Do I need any equipment?
Most drills need only goggles and a cap. Some use fins, a kickboard or a pull buoy. Each video tells you what to bring.
I'm training for my first triathlon. Which drills matter most?
Start with breathing and body position. They make every length easier and they are the base for sighting and swimming in open water.
Can Coach Marques check my technique?
Yes. Coach Marques teaches private and group adult swim lessons in Bellevue and Kirkland, with stroke analysis and video feedback. See the Swim Lessons page for packages.
